FAQs

  • Well, the truth is, you don’t. These days, because technology is so good, just about anyone can pick up a camera and take good photos or add a filter to a photograph. The thing is this: when you’re hiring a photographer, you’re not just hiring someone to take pretty photos. You’re hiring a certain quality of person you’re trusting to communicate with you frequently and accurately, show up on time, honor and respect the sanctity of your day, respect you, your family, and your guests, have the drive to learn and study a craft to mastery, run a successful business, and tie all those factors together and present a product to you that makes you feel like your business was valued. That is the difference a professional makes. That, not everyone is capable of, or endeavors to do.

  • Throughout most wedding days, many types of photography can be employed. For instance, the details may require an eye for the artistic, the getting ready session may be more documentary or editorial, the ceremony may lend itself best to traditional shooting, and the reception may resemble event photography. If we had to go on record, we would describe our style as modern, authentic, documentary. There are times throughout the wedding day we give the couple some direction but, truly, we would say that we mainly document the day as it occurs. The goal is to best meet your vision and expectation for the day while accomplishing an even, cohesive, consistent style.

  • Camera images can be thought of like a slate of marble. When the image is captured, it is written to the memory card as a RAW file (think of the marble). When the image is taken from the card into the photograph processing software (you can consider this the chisel) it is refined into the final image that best represents the day to the eye of the photographer (the sculptor). Editing the photos also allows me to remove minor blemishes and stains, if they occur.

  • We will certainly remove any blemishes, stains, or fly-away hairs but, generally speaking, we will not remove or adjust body features. We essentially shoot naturally. Removing/adjusting body parts is far too subjective.

  • Unless we are quite literally on our deathbeds, we will be at your wedding.

  • We are networked with many wonderful photographers and will have a talented replacement to make sure your day is photographed.

  • Typically, we don’t like to take breaks. We do not want to be in a position where we miss anything. If anything, we’ll take a few minutes to have a sip of water, eat some crackers, or swap out gear. Some clients are nice enough to feed us during the dinner and, if so, we’d graciously accept.

  • Certainly. Multiple cameras, lenses, lights, and memory cards.

  • Generally about 4 weeks is the expected turnaround time. We are pretty particular about our images and their quality. Sometimes, we do manage to get them back earlier. We will also blog them, typically, during the middle of the next week immediately after your wedding.

  • Oh yes. Many venues won’t allow us on their premises unless we are adequately insured.

  • After they are edited and ready to go, we’ll send you a link to a beautiful online gallery where you’ll be able to view, download, and share your images.

  • Interesting question. We haven’t, historically, had a lot of interest in albums; however, we would love to help you design and order an album. Certainly, let me know if that is of interest, and we can get the ball rolling on that.

  • Yes! It includes 8 hours of coverage, high resolution digital images, and a complimentary engagement session.

  • This is an excellent question and is overlooked far too often. A wedding photographer may be one of, if not the most, expensive vendors you’ll hire for your wedding. Also, your photographer is the vendor you’ll spend the most time with on your wedding day (maybe with the exception of your planner, if you hired one). You’re also trusting your photographer to evoke organic, genuine, authentic emotion from you and capture it. In order to do this effectively, you have to be sure your photographer is a good fit. Now, the way we accomplish this from the photographer’s end is by meeting (virtually or in-person) before we book you as a client and letting you get to know us a little. In that time, you’ll get a glimpse of who we are and what we have to offer you on your big day as people and professionals. During this time, we’ll have the opportunity to get to know you a little also. This will help us know if we can meet your unique needs or not. If not, we’ll help you find someone that checks all your boxes. Even if you don’t book with us, we’d love to still serve and help.
